David Coulthard’s DTM livery revealed

The livery for David Coulthard’s DTM machine has been revealed during first practice on track, ahead of this weekend’s DTM Premiere. The ex-Formula One star will be competing in a bright yellow AMG Mercedes-Benz C-Class, with backing from DTM partners Deutsche Post.

The Scot has promised to put his “yellow ‘post car’ into focus perfectly,” as he prepares to make his DTM race debut at Hockenheim, something he told Autosport magazine that will be a “personal voyage of discovery.”

After competing in 246 Formula One Grand Prix, Coulthard begins his switch to touring car racing this weekend, and while his Mercedes-Benz Motorsport boss Norbert Haug has stressed his new charge needs time to adapt to racing with a roof over his head, the vivid livery will ensure his every move is watched closely.

“David makes his motor-racing comeback in DTM and at the same time, the Deutsche Post begins a partnership with us, in the new season. Two striking signals for DTM and Mercedes-Benz in one sweep – it couldn’t come any better,” said Haug.

“It goes without saying that David – being a DTM rookie – will need his time to learn. But most definitely, failing to notice his car and presence will prove to be impossible.”

Commenting on the livery, Coulthard said, “I am looking forward to returning to my long-term friends at Mercedes-Benz. At the same time, I’m also proud of representing a brand as renowned as Deutsche Post. I will give my very best to put my yellow ‘post car’ into focus perfectly.”

Coulthard ended his first DTM practice session in 13th position, +1.449 down on quickest man and reigning Champion Timo Scheider.
