The STCC/DTC 2010 premiere preview
The Swedish Touring Car Championship and the Danish Touring Car Championship starts off this weekend at Jyllandsringen in Denmark. A total of 26 cars are going to be on the grid with drivers from Sweden, Denmark, England, Norway and Germany.
“It is going to be the best Touring Car race seen on Danish soil for many years,” said Jason Watt.
The first STCC/DTC race of the year kicks off at 14.10 CET at Jyllandsringen and last year STCC runner-up Thed Björk is excited.
“I am very excited ahead of the premiere. It is hard to say too much ahead of the first race, especially as we meet the Danes on their home grounds. But my goal is set on the very top,” said Björk.
The are many big names set for a good clash in the first race: Jan Magnussen, Tommy Rustad, Jason Watt, Richard Göransson, James Thompson and many more.
Danish BMW-driver Casper Elgaard is expecting tough opposition from the Swedes.
“The competition is going to be fierce from the Swedes. But I am very confident with my new team Bauhaus Telecommunications Security, the whole setup around the team is fantastic,” said Elgaard.
While STCC and DTC teams score individually in their respective championships, the premiere race is included in a Scandinavian Touring Car Cup. Here all drivers and teams of STCC and DTC are eligible to score points.
“There are many good danish and swedish drivers and I would say that the Danes have a bit of an advantage for the first race at least,” said WestCoast Racing driver Richard Göransson.
Jan Magnussen holds the current S2000 record at Jyllandsringen of 1:10.742, set in 2008 while driving a BMW 320si E90 on Dunlop tyres. This year both STCC and DTC run on Yokohama tyres.
