Base weights revealed for the STCC/DTC premiere
The base weight list for the Swedish Touring Car Championship and Danish Touring Car Championship has been released. The list features 28 cars with weights from 1190 kilos to 1120 kilos. The turbo charged bio-gas powered Volkswagen Scirocco’s of Kristoffersson Motorsport heads the weight list.
The Bauhaus Telesikring BMW 320si of Jan Magnussen and Casper Elgaard are second heaviest because of the 5-speed sequential gearbox (+15 kg), a gearbox not allowed for the STCC cars to use.
The STCC BMW’s of MA:GP/IPS, Flash Engineering and WestCoast Racing all get 1170 kilos with 5-speed H-box while the BMW 320si of Alternative Engineering get 1179 because of bio-ethanol (-6 kg).
The heaviest naturally aspirated front wheel driven car is the Chevrolet Cruze of Chevrolet Team Sweden at 1165 kilos. The bio-ethanol powered Volvo C30’s of reigning STCC champions Polestar Racing weigh in at 1159 kilos.
The nationally homologated Honda Accord’s of Hartmann Honda, with James Thompson and Tomas Engström, has got the base weight of 1155 kilos. That means that they get -5 kilos on the FWD base weight, compared to the +30 kilos on the base weight given by the FIA for the European Touring Car Championship.
The lightest car of the field is the SEAT Léon, 1120 kilos, of Jason Watt because of his handicap equipment.
