Shedden takes pole for first round

Honda Racing Team’s Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden has taken pole position for the first round of the 2010 British Touring Car Championship.

The Civic set the fastest lap of 1:24.061 on a wet Thruxton circuit from Triple Eight’s Fabrizio Giovanardi.

Honda team mate Matt Neal will start third, whilst Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan put in a last minute flyer to take fourth on the grid.

Silverline Chevrolet had a very mixed session, with Jason Plato securing fifth, whilst BTCC newcomer Alex MacDowell failed a ride height check and saw all his times deleted – and during the wetter later stages of the session could only get up to 15th.

Race One gets underway at 11:30am BST on Sunday.
