Oschersleben race removed from calendar
The FIA European Touring Car Cup race at Oschersleben has been removed from the calendar after pressure from the STCC and DTC organisations.
“We did not want our drivers to be forced to choose between two good championships,” said Bob Huzell, STCC MD, to STCC.se.
The Oschersleben date was just recently moved to the WTCC weekend on the 4/5th of september which caused a clash with BTCC, STCC and DTC.
The removal of the Oschersleben race means that the ETCC 2010 calendar features three races: Braga in March, Salzburgring in July and Franciacorta in October.
STCC series organiser Huzell is pleased over the move.
“Our ambition is to provide the spectators with a good championship with the best drivers. But we understand and encourage our drivers to take part in ETCC, but we want them to feel calm in the season preparations,” said Huzell.
The change has not been officially confirmed by FIA or the ETCC organisation yet.
