Michel Nykjær is DTC champion 2009!

This Sunday has offered everything you can ask of touring car racing, rain, collisions and infights for the title. And if you for a moment thought that the final Danish Touring Car Championship race should be a drag, then the Danish drivers proved you wrong.

A champion had to be found, and thankfully the championship contenders had their cars repaired after the stockcar race in the second qualification heat.

A big applause should go to the mechanics, so now the final fight of the 2009 season was about to start.

But the lost laps in the second heat meant, that all the conquerors was found in the last part of the field. Henrik Lundgaard and Jan Magnussen should go through most of the field, before they could hope for the 2009 championship lead.

Magnussen managed to do just that, and passed number two in the championship, Michel Nykjær for third spot. The latter found himself in fifth spot, but relied on the points already gathered to take the 2009 Danish Touring Car Championship title!

Magnussen fought his way past Lundgaard in the final table which secured second in the championship, and Lundgaard ended up in fourth.

Jens Reno Møller managed two second spots and two maximum scores for the Independents Cup. But the points leader Per Poulsen has taken the title, however he drives under an appeal so he can’t be crowned Independent Cup champion before the appeal has been decided.

Chevrolet Motorsport Danmark has been crowned DTC team champions, a title they defended from last year. John Hansen was crowned Invitation Only champion.
