Matt Neal led the way in the first free practice session of the final round of the British Touring Car Championship season.

Matt Neal led the way in the first free practice session of the final round of the British Touring Car Championship season.

Neal lapped the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in a time of 1:33.914, and was followed closely by Jason Plato who was some 0.072 seconds adrift of Neal.

Championship leader Colin Turkington managed the fifth fastest time, with his greatest rival for the title, Fabrizio Giovanardi, failing to break into the top ten.

The Italian could only manage 12th, as he was topped by both of his Vauxhall team mates.

Tom Chilton enjoyed another successful session in the Team Aon Ford Focus, as he posted the third fastest time of the session.
