JM Racing closing its doors

JM Racing announced today, that the team is ceasing their activities in the Danish Touring Car Championship. The team has been promoting drivers like Tom Pedersen and Independents Cup winner Michael Outzen. The season finale this weekend will be the last for the team, marking a culmination in the team´s four year DTC legacy.

“When we entered the DTC series, our philosophy was to promote young talents in the sport, “Jytte Mathiesen explains.

”Today the scene has changed. We can’t find the support needed to allow the young drivers to race with the sponsors available. That is why we have decided to stop.”

”We could soon see, that there were a lot of young talents, who found it hard to find their way in the sport, so as early as 2005 we chose to focus on the talent development, “ team boss Jens Ole Mathiesen explains.

“Here we had Michael Holden and Michael Outzen as the first drivers, who we worked with and helped along, since then more drivers has been added.”

“The best year, in regard to the results, was clearly 2007. But that year also taught us that you don’t gain anything from being a large team, and race many cars. But if you don’t jump into things, you often don’t learn anything, but I still feel that we have been part of history.”

“We would like to thank all the people, which in one way or another have contributed to the team through the years.”

Jens Ole Mathiesen will race the BMW M3 E46 in the Invitation Only class, while Kasper Jensen will race the team’s last race in the DTC class with the BMW 320i E46.

The team will celebrate their four years in the DTC class, starting its racing history with Mathiesen racing a Citroen Saxo in the OK Cup in 2004.
