Per Poulsen lodges appeal
At the DTC round at Ring Djursland, Independent Cup leader Per Poulsen, received a warning and a six places penalty from the track judges. This was a reaction to the hard driving, battling Jason Watt for the lead in race 2 of the weekend. Poulsen won the race, but was later summoned before the judges.
“It was great, it really was, “Poulsen explains after his victory. “I didn’t expect to win, when I left the pits, but I quickly caught the second placed driver, and I was quicker than Jason Watt, who was in front of me. So I thought, why not have a go. I got past him for a moment, but then I failed my braking, and he got past me again. But in the next lap I passed him and won.”
“Obviously it is great to experience the first win. It is so cool, also for the boys. Because even though I got a second place this year, it is after all the victories you go for.”
“It was a super weekend, especially after last two weekends, where the races at Jyllandsringen might not be that bad, but they did have a bad ending. I really needed the results, and I have shown that we rightfully have earned our places. Of course we lack the speed to fight for the victory, but we made due with what we’ve got. It is essential in relation to the Independents Cup, where I am under an immense pressure.”
Poulsen received a warning and also a six grid places penalty, at the next qualifying session. The reason was the way he overtook Jason Watt.
”Jason is very defensive for 4-5 laps, and then overtaking is a tight business. But as Jason said himself, we swop paint. So I can’t really understand why I get the penalty. We should be able to leave the track with our heads up high, but it was with a bitter taste in our mouth. So we have chosen to lodge an appeal.”
