Jan Magnussen flew to a double victory
Ring Djursland was engulfed in red smoke from Jan Magnussen´s supporters around the track, Magnussen sitting in pole position waiting for the rolling start. Ree Sport made it to the first E85 double victory at the penultimate round of the Danish Touring car Championship.
Second in the championship, Michel Nykjær, had to retire from the earlier race two of the day, and was unable to join the finale.
As the lights went green, Chevrolet driver Henrik Lundgaard attacked Per Poulsen, and after following the Independent Cup leader like a hawk Lundgaard overtook him for third.
The drama continued; Jens Reno Møller had at last found speed in his former Sturup Raceway Seat Leon S2000, and moved in for the kill with fellow Independent Kasper Jensen in his sights. In the last turn before the start/goal straight, he hit the rear of the JM Racing BMW 320i E46, and Jensen was trapped in the sand.
This secured a three laps long safetycar period, cooling down the front wheel drive cars tires. Magnussen managed to cruise to the win with teammate Martin Jensen in second. Lundgaard ended a dismal weekend in third, while Per Poulsen took the lead for the Independent Cup in fourth spot.
Martin Marrill managed a straight three win of the day, taking points in on John Hansen in the Invitation Only class.
The final DTC round of the day is at FDM Jyllandsringen at the 3/4th of October.
