KP Racing dislikes V8 switch

Team manager Karsten Pind of KP Racing is not happy about the recently released plans for the Danish Touringcar Championship to switch to V8 cars in 2011.
“I am really sorry to hear about the recent plans for the DTC series”, he told TouringCarTimes.com.

“We have worked on this unique project for two years and spent a lot of money to make the Mercedes competitive. As I see it, the 2010 season won’t see many cars on the grid because of this.”

The current plans of introducing a V8 championship is not a decision the privateer team applauds:

“It’s horrible. The idea of the DTC was to create a championship with cars that represents the family cars on the street, and I believe that this is why it became a great success”, Pind said, stating his disbelief to the new championship.

“I have a hard time believing that this is what the fans want to see.”

Another issue for the small team is the economy.

“What about the cars? Not only will our car, but a lot of cars will be worthless when DTC is gone.”

The only Danish championship where the S2000 cars will be eligible is the Special Saloon Car championship. Otherwise, teams will be forced to compete in championships outside Denmark.
