John Nielsen retires from DTC

Danish Touring Car Championship veteran and Le Mans winner, John Nielsen, has announced his intention to leave Team Telesikring Racing with immediate effect. The team launched a press announcement earlier today confirming his exit.

”Obviously it is sad, that we don’t finish the season together, ”John Nielsen explains. ”I must admit, that my comeback in the DTC 2009 didn’t turn out the way I had expected – in many ways – and the financial crisis also had an effect.

”I would like to say thank you to Team Telesikring Racing, the sponsors, the competitors, the DTC and everybody else who was involved, and made it possible to come back. The future holds many challenges, and will I look forward to take them up as they come.”

”It is with great regret, that we end our cooperation with John Nielsen, ” teamboss Peter Ager explains. “Both of us expected and hoped for a different season that the one we have witnessed, and it is sad to say goodbye to one of my old heroes.”

The teams other driver, Joachim Stephansen, will continue his DTC challenge with team Telesikring Racing. The team has not announced a replacement driver for Nielsen.
