Stewart Whyte goes one better

In the second of the weekend’s David Leslie Memorial Trophy races, Stewart Whyte improved on Saturday’s performance to stand atop the podium. Behind him Tom Shephard and Dave Jarman ensured it was the same three drivers on the rostrum for the final day of the Silverstone Classic.

Saturday’s winner Jarman in his ex-Matt Neal Nissan Primera led early on, until the Honda Accord of Whyte forced its way past on the third lap to snatch the lead. Shephard also demoted Jarman to third spot, while behind them the Nissan Primera of Keith Butcher and Alvin Powell’s Ford Mondeo battled early on, with the pair finishing fourth and fifth.

As on Saturday the BMW M3 of Jason Minshaw and Richard Austin’s Ford Capri both made the top ten, as did Rick Pearson in his ex-Laurent Aiello Primera, finishing eighth. One place behind was Jim Pocklington’s ex-John Cleland Vauxhall Cavalier, with Ian Crisp rounding out the top ten.
