Interview: James Thompson – A busy man

The Brit James Thompson is a busy man, this weekend driving at round three of the Danish Touring Car Championship, but also involved in three other championships. For a man who just a few months ago looked unemployed, this is a welcome change.
“I am a busy man, just signed for Lada in the WTCC, driving the Hartmann Honda in the DTC and for Team Dynamics in the BTCC. And just to cap it off, also for Team Vodafone in the Australian V8 Series,” said Thompson.

Driving his white Honda Accord for Hartmann Honda Racing in Denmark this weekend, James Thompson has to look on his schedule on a daily basis, to find out which country he must be in and which car he has to drive next.

This Saturday it all started out a bit pear shaped, with a power steering failure. But as it turned out, a win in the finale of the weekend would rectify this soon enough.

“Yeah well, that is what practice sessions are for, “ Thompson concluded. “Frustrating that I have to leave the session with a technical failure, but I am sure the guys will fix it quickly.”

Next up for Thompson is the Lada debut in the World Touring Car Championship at Porto, Portugal.

“I think that the Lada effort will be promising, the team has a great atmosphere and I will have my engineer Marco with me,” said Thompson.

The fourth commitment Thompson has got is the V8 Supercars series in Austrailia, driving for Team Vodaphone in two races.

“The V8 Series will be two endurance races, with Bathurst 1000 as my favourite. I am just longing to drive a V8 on that track.”

“I am always either in a plane or in a car somewhere. But I like it, I think its fun. So that’s great.”
