Henrik Lundgaard wins heat two

FDM Jyllandsringen and Chevrolet seem to be the recipe for Chevrolet at round three of the Danish Touring Car Championship. JM Racing driver Kasper Jensen in his BMW E46 made it to eight spot in heat one, giving him pole in heat two. The fact that he had a tough act to beat was underlines by looking at the following places where Seat Leon driver Jason Watt and Chevrolet driver Henrik Lundgaard resided.

Kasper Jensen knew he would have to fight, to keep the fast front wheel drive cars behind him.

And even though Jensen did his best, he had Lundgaard breathing down his neck already in turn one, after he has launched his blue Lacetti past Watt, and in the next turn the Chevrolet was past Jensen.

And Watt managed also to get past the fighting BMW, forming second spot behind Lundgaard.

FDM Jyllandsringen is normally best suited for rear wheel drive cars, but the leading privateer cup driver, Per Poulsen also got past Jensen in his yellow and silver JM Racing entry, placing the Hartmann Honda driver third. Poulsen made the best of the powerful Honda engine, and already in the fourth lap he got past Watt in second.

Lundgaard, you might ask? Well, he stormed ahead with nobody able to catch him. The leading cars this year has been the Honda Accord and the Chevrolet Lacetti. But even though Poulsen has impressed everyone with his speed; he was not able to catch Lundgaard in front.

Thompson had his own fight to deal with, trying to fight of the constant attacks from Jan Magnussen in his Ree Sport BMW E90. A true masters duel, fair but close. But no matter what Magnussen tried, he found the door closed by Thompson’s white Accord.

The fastest Invitation Only driver was John Hansen in his Seat Leon Super Copa, keeping the two S2000 BMW 320i cars of Joachim Stephansen and Kim Morgan Jensen behind him. The fastest lap of the race was set by Poulsen, lapping in 1.11,747. The effort in the two heats made him pole sitter in the finale, impressing yet again with his transformation from Clio Cup winner to DTC pole position.

Lundgaard was clearly very pleased with the victory and the points to the championship:
“Kasper tried to fend me off,“ Lundgaard explained after the race. “But I managed to get past. I really feel fantastic, three places in one lap, how can you not be pleased?”
