Series promoter Elgaard puzzled by Chevrolet exit

After receiving news that Perfection Racing is leaving the Danish Touring Car Championship, under the banner of Chevrolet Motorsport Denmark, series promoter Peter Elgaard is puzzled by the decision.
“Obviously any team can freely leave or join the series,“ Elgaard explains at DTC Media. “So we can only take the news at face value.”

“It is however not correct, when Michael Klostermann claims that the only changes in the individual competiveness are the ongoing improvements.

Because up to this season Chevrolet was allowed some dispensations, and these are the ones which has now been disallowed.”

“Compared to last year, Chevrolet was allowed to remove 10 kilos, because their car is no longer used in the WTCC. On top of that, the team was allowed to use a special exemption from the WTCC, which allowed them to remove yet another 10 kilos.”

“When the season started this year, the car weighed 1020 kilos compared to 1040 kilos last year. The only thing which has been changed is that we have moved the Chevrolet and the Honda back to the basic level for a frontwheeldrive car as a Seat Leon, to ensure a competitive relationship in the series.”

“The decision we made in the DTC A/S, was to take the cars back to the weight, which it had last year. We have only moved the balance of power back to the old level, making sure that everyone can see the fine work Chevrolet has done.”
