Volvo dominates first Gothenburg test

The two Volvo drivers Robert Dahlgren and Tommy Rustad were fastest on the first test at their home track Gothenburg City Race Arena. The session started wet but dried up completely towards the end, providing difficult conditions for the teams. Rustad’s fellow country man, and Chevrolet driver, Thomas Schie made it two Norwegians in the top three.

Best of the BMW’s was reigning champion Richard Göransson ahead of his team mate Robin Rudholm.

Tomas Engström, equipped with a brand new Mugen engine, was sixth fastest.

It remains to be seen if Engström is going to keep that engine for the races, if he does, he is going to get a 10 places grid penalty.

Fredrik Ekblom was seventh fastest in the 50 kilo’s lighter Volkswagen Scirocco, 0.947 seconds behind Dahlgren’s time.

Thed Björk was ninth fastest ahead of top privateer Viktor Huggare in tenth.

A second test session is planned to be held at 17.35 today.
