Gabriele Tarquini on pole at Valencia

SEAT has dominated qualifying again at their home race in Valencia. The top four positions are occupied by the turbo diesel powered cars, with Gabriele as quickest of the four. He outpaced Yvan Muller on his last lap, setting a time of 1:44.414. That time was 0.232s quicker than Mullers best lap.

Jordi Gene and Gabriele Tarquini were third and fourth fastest. The last SEAT Léon TDI of Rickard Rydell was nineth fastest.

All three Chevrolets were inside the top ten as well. Alain Menu was the fastest of them, qualifying in sixth position. Rob Huff set the eighth best time, while Larini ended the session in tenth place.

Augusto Farfus was the only BMW driver to make into the top ten qualifying. During the last part of the session he set the fifth fastest time, making him the best non-diesel driver.

Again Tom Coronel was the best privateer driver. He was the only one to make it into the top ten, qualifying in seventh. Second best privateer was Felix Porteiro in 15th place. Privateer championship leader Franz Engstler only managed to qualify in 21st, eighth fastest privateer.

The Lada’s didn’t manage to make the best of their new engine, which has 25 more BHP. Viktor Shapovalov was the best Lada driver in 22nd, Kirill Ladygin was 24th. Jaap van Lagen didn’t get out on track, as his engine change wasn’t finished yet.
