Fabrizio Giovanardi back on top at Thruxton

Italian Fabrizio Giovanardi is back on top during the first free practice sesion at Thruxton ahead of the second British Touring Car Championship race this weekend. The Italian was the only driver to get below 1:19 around the very fast track. Second fastest was Colin Turkington in the RAC BMW 320si, 0.234 seconds behind.

Adam Jones showed a strong form in third with the Cartride World Carbon Zero Racing, only 0.079 seconds behind.

Vauxhall drivers Matt Neal and Andrew Jordan followed each other in fourth and fifth position respectively.

Team RAC man Stephen Jelley was sixth, followed by the two Airwaves BMW’s of newcomer Jonathan Adam and Brands Hatch race winner Robert Collard.

Returnee James Thompson was ninth fastest in the Team Dynamcis Honda Civic ahead of Dan Eaves and Paul O’Neil.

The other two “returnees” Jason Plato and Mat Jackson in the pair of RML prepared Chevrolet Lacetti’s were 12th and 15th respectively.
