John Nielsen returns with Team Telesikring
Today Team Telesikring confirmed the Danish Touring Car Championship return of former Le Mans winner, John Nielsen. After a full season of sports car racing with Team Essex Invest, driving a Porsche RS Spyder, in the Le Mans Series, the 52 year old Nielsen is happy to return to the Danish tracks.
“I am really looking forward to be a part of the successes of the Danish racing history, the DTC to be more exact, after spending a year out of the series,” Nielsen explained.
“Team Telesikring was a newcomer to the sport last year, and was able to show really impressive results with the two drivers, Tom Pedersen and Peter Ager, also on the marketing and sponsorship side of the sport.
With the trust invested in me by the team, I will give it everything I have got to join them on the podium, when the black and white flag ends the season.”
Nielsen is going to drive a BMW 320si for the team and team owner team owner Ejgil Egsgaard clarifies is pleased over his new driver.
“Team Telesikring is a young team, but the fact that John Nielsen showed us the interest to enter negotiations, was a pad on the back on our side. And furthermore when John Nielsen then chose to sign a 2009 contract with us, confirms that we are now regarded as an established team,” said Egsgaard.
Nielsen is equally hopeful as the team owner and aims to finish in the top three of the DTC field.
“I was present all the way from the start of the DTC back in 1990. The target this year is very clear. We need to have a top three result. I drove with number 33 from 2005 to 2007 and I managed to take nine victories. I do intend to repeat that again with the same start number,” said Nielsen.
