First ever Peugeot and Alfa Romeo team

Due to the changed rules of the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2009 an unique team constellation has been formed. The Swedish Peugeot dealer team IPS Motorsport has joined forces with Alfa Romeo privateer team MA:GP.
“We want to fight seriously for the prize money,” said Peugeot-driver Johan Stureson to STCC.se.

The new rules for this year includes prize money for the team. Two cars per team are eligible for winning prize money of each race weekend which has made these two teams to join forces.

“We want to create as good conditions as possible to fight with the big two car teams,” said Alfa Romeo-driver Mattias Andersson.

But the two teams are not joining forces on anything other than the entry papers. They will not stand in together in the pit lane or co operate technically.

“Of course you could co operate in the way to compare speed and gear settings, but we have not spoken about that yet. We have not discussed the tactics on the track yet. If we are along side each other on the track, we are not going to take each other off when there is a chance for prize money,” said Andersson.

Johan Stureson is going to drive a Peugeot 308 this season and Mattias Andersson a Alfa Romeo 156.
