Chilton confident over Ford potential

Tom Chilton has so far completed three days of testing in the new S2000 Ford Focus. But this early on Chilton already feels the potential of the car.
“On paper the Ford Focus is a very good car. I’ve only done three days’ testing but I’ve already noticed that it it’s very good on traction and tyre life,” said Chilton to BTCC.net.

Chilton has done eight years in the BTCC and driven a number of different cars.

“I’ve been in the BTCC for eight years and driven five different cars with seven different engine builders. I have to say that every engine has been very similar in performance, which means it’s down to the drivers because the cars are so close.”

Chilton has driven for Arena Motorsport in the past, scoring most of his wins with them. The BTCC premiere at Brands Hatch is about four weeks away and Chilton faces an intense testing schedule before that.

“It’s great to be back with Arena because I’ve got most of my race wins and podiums with them. I’m looking forward to the opening round of the season at Brands Hatch, as I won the last race of last year here.

I absolutely love Brands and Paddock Hill Bend is a really exciting corner – when you get it right and just slightly slide in you get a real buzz. It’s one of those corners that I just really love driving.”
