Tim Slade joins Ingall at Supercheap
Rising V8 star Tim Slade has graduated from the Fujitsu V8 development series and will race in the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series.
A winner in the Fujitsu V8 development series, Slade has secured the second seat in the Supercheap Auto Racing Holden team vacated by team owner Paul Morris.
The 23 year old Adelaide driver beat a long list of contenders for the highly-prized position to race alongside 2005 V8 Supercar Champion Russell Ingall. “This is a dream come true, it’s what I’ve been working towards my whole career,” Slade said.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to this point and I couldn’t have done it without the ongoing support of my family and people like James Rosenberg of Gawler Farm Machinery and Graham Eastick of DSG @ Home.
“Supercheap Auto Racing was the series’ most improved team last year and promises to be even better in 2009, and I couldn’t have two better blokes to learn from than Russell Ingall and Paul Morris.”
Morris said Slade’s attitude was a deciding factor in his appointment.
“Tim’s brain is in the right spot; he isn’t scared to get his hands dirty and he’s more concerned with making his car faster than where his next latte is coming from – he’s exactly what we were looking for,” Morris said.
Slade finished seventh and was Privateer’s Cup Champion in last year’s Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, winning Round 2 at Wakefield Park. He won the CIK Junior Intercontinental A Australian karting title, has raced successfully in F3 and was also runner up in the 2006 Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Supercheap Auto Racing will unveil its stunning 2009 livery at a media launch at its headquarters at the Holden Performance Driving Centre on the Gold Coast this Friday, 6 March at 10.30am.
The 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series kicks off with the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide on 19-22 March.
