ARTS bows out of the DTC
Autoforum Racing Team Silkeborg announced today that the team has decided to bow out of the Danish Touring Car Championship. After a hard fought 2008 season, where the driver line-up changed several times, the decision has now been made to take a time-out from the series.
ARTS started four years ago as co-operation between the two team colleagues in LV Motorsport/Team VM Zinc, Lars Vendelbo and Klaus Verner. After a couple of successfull years in Advan Cup, the decision was made to take up the challenge in the Danish Touringcar Championship, side by side with the continued Advan Cup participation.
The first years the Peugeot 307 was the mainstay of the team, the last two years ARTS has been competeting the latest version of the Peugeot 407. In 2008 the driverlineup was made up by the Danish Clio Cup champion Norwegian Petter Granlund and Ronni Jensen. However after the first race of the season, Jensen had to stop his DTC career due to health reasons, which left Granlund as sole DTC driver.
After Grand Prix Denmark, Petter Granlund chose to put his DTC career on hold, which left the team without DTC drivers for the two 407 racers. At Padborg Grand Prix, Rene Rasmussen and teamcoordinator Klaus Verner was back in the car.
At the DTC Finale, the former ARTS DTC driver David Falch was back in the car, securing the best result of the 2008 season.
The challenging 2008 DTC season has been the main reason behind the team’s decision to take a time out from DTC, and both cars and trailer are now up for sale. 2009 holds the revival of LV Motorsport by Lars Vendelbo, but so far no announcement has been made which series the revived team will compete in.
Autoforum Racing Team Silkeborg led by Klaus Verner, will also continue the support of young motocross talents. The possibility to return in the DTC in the future has not been ruled out, until then ARTS will focus on young motocross driver development.
