Knight ready to improve after Taupo

After a promising start to the BNT V8s Championship at Taupo recently Andy Knight of Christchurch is looking forward to building on that performance when the second round takes place at Pukekohe Park Raceway in Auckland this weekend.
Knight showed he is already a force in the category when he qualified his Milwaukee Falcon ninth fastest in his championship debut at Taupo at the beginning of October.

That was an impressive start for the series rookie and, although his luck was out during all three races, the fact that he recorded the third fastest lap of the race in the final encounter of the opening round demonstrated the 22-year-old single seater graduate has the pace to be a big factor in the championship.

The Milwaukee Falcon is a brand new car built in Christchurch by Design Autotek and the crew are all new, prompting Andy to say at the conclusion of the first round, “there is definite potential there.” The team has forged a technological agreement with top Australian V8 Supercar team, Stone Brothers Racing. The agreement allows the team to utilise SBR expertise in the area’s of race car engineering, data acquisition, engine development and the use of an SBR engineer, an outstanding opportunity for the young Cantabrian.

The team hoped to have a test at their home circuit, Powerbuilt Tools Raceway in Christchurch, prior to leaving for Auckland this week and Knight say’s everything should be good when the team arrives at Pukekohe.

At the corresponding meeting last season Andy scorched to three wins from three races in his Milwaukee Power Tools Toyota as he began a campaign that would see him take the 2007/2008 Toyota Racing Series Championship.

Milwaukee Power Tools, one of the world’s premium power tool brands, Mitre 10 Mega, Latimer Hotel, Design Autotek, Pink Batts Silencer, Chemz, Metalman, Powerbuilt Tools, Elite Transport Refinishers Timaru, New Balance, John Jones Steel Ltd, Winners Sports Bar & TAB, Century Yuasa, Novus Auto Glass, Canterbury Motor Racing School, Parker Store, B Sport, Castrol, Omega Rental Cars and Imron Fleet Line are supporting Andy Knight’s campaign in the 2008/2009 BNT V8s Championship.
