Legends line-up at Silverstone
Silverstone have announced the Driver and Car line-up that will help celebrate the 50th year of the BTCC at the penultimate round of this year’s championship.
Iconic Cars from the past 50 years will be on display at the meeting with some of the cars driven on track by past drivers and Champions in this celebration of the Championship.
The drivers will also take part in a number of meet-and-greet sessions on race day, Sunday 31 August, the drivers will also take part in a historic parade lap which is planned to take place at 12.30pm.
The cars will be on show in a special area in the main paddock, Other cars will also be on display including cars from both Team Halfords and SEAT Sport UK ensuring the display will cover the five decades of BTCC racing.
The cars and drivers expected to be on track are:
Jack Sears (1958-65), BTCC champion in 1958 and 1963, driving an Austin Westminster A105
David Brodie (1963-95), driving his 1988 Ford Sierra RS500
Ray Pierpoint (1965-68), BTCC champion in 1965, driving a 1968 Ford Falcon
Jackie Oliver (1966-70), driving a 1965 Ford Mustang
Martin Thomas (1967-86), driving his 1967 ‘Ovaltine’ Chevrolet Camaro
Chris Craft (1969 to 1979), driving a 1969 Ford Escort
Gordon Spice (1969 to 1984), driving a 1974 ‘Quick Brew’ Ford Capri 3.0S Mk.2 Gp.1
Bill McGovern (1970 to 1974), BTCC champion in 1970, 1971 and 1972 driving a ’64 / ‘65 Hillman Imp
Vince Woodman (1971 to 1989), driving his 1973 Ford Capri Cologne
Stuart Graham (1973 to 1980), driving a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro, also representing the Chevrolet Camaro’s driven by his team-mate, the late Richard Lloyd
Andy Rouse (1973 to 1994), BTCC champion in 1975, 1983, 1984 and 1985 driving a Ford Sierra RS500
Tony Dron (1974 to 1984), in the 1975 Triumph Dolomite Sprint
Barrie Williams (1974 to 1989), in the late Gerry Marshall’s 1976 Vauxhall Magnum
Richard Longman (1977 to 1986), BTCC champion in 1978 and 1979 in his 1978 1275GT Mini Clubman
Jeff Allam (1977 to 1995), driving a 1975 Rover Vitesse
Damon Hill (1989), driving the 1958 Riley 1.5 of Tommy Sopwith
Derek Warwick (1995 to 1998) driving the 1995 Vauxhall Cavalier, formerly driven by John Cleland
Graham Leslie driving the Nissan Primera his father, the late David Leslie, drove in 1999
