David Leslie memorial at Silverstone
Silverstone will host a memorial to the late David Leslie on Thursday 24th July. All BTCC fans are invited to attend. David Leslie tragically had his life taken early in March 2008 when a private jet he was travelling in crashed in Kent. Fellow racing driver Richard Lloyd was also killed in the accident.
The memorial celebration takes place at Silverstone circuit on Thursday 24th July, starting at 6pm in at the BRDC farm.
Fans of David Leslie and the BTCC are all invited. If you wish to attend Silverstone requests you send an email to davidlesliememorial@hotmail.co.uk so that they provide enough catering for all.
Silverstone will provide a hog roast which you may try for a small charge, of which the proceeds will go to the Oxford Kidney Unit Trust Fund at Churchill Hospital in Oxford.
David was a 5 times Scottish Karting Champion before switching to cars. He drove in a number of championships before switching to the BTCC in the 90’s becoming a full time driver for Vauxhall with who he won the championship in 1993. He then raced for Mazda, Honda and Nissan. It was David Leslie who was given credit particular for Nissan when he turned an uncompetitive car into a contender finishing runner up to Laurent Aïello.
