James Thompson wants podium in debut

James Thompson will make his Danish Touring Car Championship debut this weekend. The first race of the year is held at Jyllandsringen and the Brit will be behind the wheel of an Hartmann Honda Accord.
“There is a lot of good cars, and it has been very interesting. It was a very good test and a nice way to familiarize me with things. It is a good team and I am looking forward to the first race,” said Thompson to DTC-net.dk.

Thompson took part in the first two official test days at Jyllandsringen last weekend when he was third fastest overall. The Brit will take part in all DTC races this year that does not collide with his WTCC-campaing for N-Technology.

The goal is set high for the premiere race and it is not impossible that Thompson joins Michael Carlsen and Jens Edman who both has won their first DTC race.

“Never rule anything out, but we never know what the weather will throw at you and one mistake in qualifying can set you six or seven positions further down, so you have to be careful and make a good lap time and see. I will certainly fight for the podium that is for sure.”
