James Thompson tops first DTC test

The first of five Danish Touring Car Championship tests is completed. James Thompson was the fastest driver in the Honda Accord around the Jyllandsringen track.
“The circuit is very interesting. The track is fun to drive and it reminds me of Mondello Park. But I have my though as to what will happen, when races are run here,” said Thompson to dtc-net.dk.

The times in the top were really close with BMW-ace Jan Magnussen only 0.015 seconds behind Thompson. Tom Pedersen took third fastest lap, also driving a BMW 320si.

Michael Carlsen held a strong pace in his Peugeot 407 in fourth place ahead of Chevrolet Lacetti-man Michael Outzen in fifth.

Reigning champion Michel Nykjær was seventh fastest behind Robert Schlünssen’s Peugeot 407. Nykjær took the title last year driving a SEAT Léon, but for this year the Dane has switched team to Poulsen Motorsport and drives a BMW 320si.

A total of 24 cars took part in the test.
