New Mercedes team for DTC 2008

While the Swedish Touring Car Championship loose their Mercedes-cars on the grid, the Danish Touring Car Championship gains one Mercedes. Kenneth Persson and Karsten Pind of KP Racing are building a brand new Mercedes C200 for the 2008 season.
“We are counting on that the car will be ready in mid-april. The model that we are building on was launched only this month, so it has been a bit hard to get parts,” said Persson to dtc-net.dk.

The building of the car has been going on for a couple of months despite the problems with getting parts. Alternative Engineering is currently preparing the engine for the car. That company has, among other things, prepared the engines for the Peugeot-cars in the DTC.

So far the driver of the Mercedes is not set, but the team has been contacted by several.
“Several drivers have contacted us and made it clear that they are interested to drive. But we have not signed a contract yet and we do not want to reveal any names yet,” said Persson.
