Mercedes at Mount Panorama

Conflicting stories are coming from Australia regarding Mercedes-Benz making an attempt to break the lap record at the Mount Panorama circuit at Bathurst.
The attempt is rumoured to take place as part of a 3-day event in March that has been put together for AMG Mercedes-Australia customers to witness the launch the new CLK 63 Black edition.

Suggestions even went as far as the driver was to be ex-multiple F1 champion Mika Hakkinen!

TouringCarTimes can exclusively reveal that although the event will take place, as some lucky owners have received their invites, the rumoured lap record attempt by a C-class DTM race car will not!

The press office at Mercedes-Benz Germany told TouringCarTimes: “I can now confirm that there will be no DTM car at this event.”

They went on to confirm that the event will be only for road-going Mercedes AMG cars.
