Mercedes too expensive says Johansson

Tobias Johansson is working hard on his Swedish Touring Car Championship 2008 program. The plans to build a new Mercedes C-Class came to a halt due to that Mercedes wanted too much money to assist him in the project.
“They wanted 1 million Euro for the engine, that will not work out,” said Johansson to Dalademokraten.

Instead, as we reported earlier, Johansson is on the hunt for a new and fast car of another make that is ready build.
“We are looking at three different manufacturers. SEAT, Opel (Vauxhall) and Chevrolet,” said Johansson.

“If the plans works out it could be really interesting. It is a car that I can win races with but to do this we need to get more money, we need about three million Swedish kronor for a season with that car,” said Johansson.

He also mentions that a used car could be an option that costs less money. Johansson ranks his chances to be on the grid in April as high.
“Well, I think it is around 75% chance that we will be on the grid,” said Johansson.
