Andersson continues with Alfa Romeo

Privateer driver Mattias Andersson has confirmed that he will continue driving his Alfa Romeo 156 in the Swedish Touring Car Championship.
“We are on a more stable economical ground now and I hope we can raise the level and climb in the results for this season,” said Andersson to STCC.se.

Last year Andersson finished 10th in the championship with a third place at Knutstorp as his best finish of the year.

“The goal is not to loose anything from 2007. It will not be easy, but realistically I think we belonged around fifth, sixth position,” said Andersson.

Andersson will continue driving the same 156 that he has raced for a couple of seasons. The car will be upgraded, but how much is still something Andersson is not sure of.

“What is going on in our minds now is if we are going to upgrade the car one or two steps. It is just not to put on the upgrades and go faster. It is a lot of work and calculating, we have almost daily contact with the factory in Italy,” said Andersson.

The second race of STCC 2008 at Sturup. will make the 400:th race in Mattias Andersson’s racing career.
