Rolling starts in all races for DTC in 2008?
The Danish Touring Car Championship could change their starting system for next year. During the 2007 season the two qualifying heats had rolling starts while the final race had standing start. But for next year all three races could be rolling. The reason for the change to rolling starts in all races is to make it even between rear wheel drive and front wheel drive cars.
At first it was feared that rolling starts would mean more crashes due to the higher speed in to the first corner compared to standing start.
But the organizers found no difference after introducing the rolling starts. To further prevent crashes, the point where the green light went on was moved further towards the corner.
