Nicola Larini wins for Chevrolet at Bologna
Nicola Larini claimed his first victory for Chevrolet at the Bologna Motor Show. After a number of podium results achieved during the FIA WTCC season, the Italian driver emerged as the winner in today’s Nivea For Men Eurotouring trophy that was held on a very wet track.
Larini and his competitors faced each other in a series of preliminary matches that saw SEAT Sport Italia’s Roberto Colciago qualified for the final against the Chevrolet man. At the end of the two final heats, Larini beat Colciago by only three hundredths of a second.
“I really wanted this victory,” said Larini. “It was not a WTCC race, but winning in Bologna before the Italian fans was absolutely great.”
“It was the right way to finish a good season. And we are especially happy because finally Nicola grabbed his first win after being five times second during the season,” Chevrolet team manager Marc Busfield commented.
Alfa Romeo’s James Thompson edged SEAT Sport’s Gabriele Tarquini in the final for the third place.
