No more WTCC for Peugeot
All previous plans for a eventual WTCC-programme for Peugeot are scrapped. Peugeot France have earlier looked on the possibilities for them to run the 407 in the WTCC. Jens Edman made one appearance at Monza earlier this year for Peugeot, Edman who runs in the DTC regularly. Instead Peugeot will focus on Le Mans.
Last week the decision was finally made as Peugeot instead will put all resources on the diesel Le Mans-project.
“Everything will now be concentrated on the Le Mans 24 hours project. It is a shame because we saw good potential with the car,” Jean-Michel Pialot from Peugeot Sport said to Autosport.
There is no word on how this will effect the DTC and STCC-programmes of Peugeot. Although it is reported that STCC-driver Johan Stureson will not get the backing from Peugeot to do the ETC Cup race later in October.
