Many new teams up for 2007

Current F3 Euroseries team ASM could run a DTM team next year. According to Autosport ASM are among a number of new teams wanting to join the series in 2007. The deal would be to run a pair of Mercedes C-Class with drivers Paul di Resta and Alexandre Permat behind the wheels.

“ASM is closely connected to us, but no decision is taken,” said Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug.

Team boss Frederic Vasseur didn’t want to comment on the subject, but his Driver Paul di Resta basically says that what ever Mercedes tells him to do goes. “I haven’t got any money to do anything other than what Mercedes wants me to do and that might be the DTM”, he said.

The other teams wanting to join DTM for next year are iSport, Team Essex and Carlin Motorsport. “My ideal scenario would be running a DTM team and an F3 Euroseries team. It’s unlikely we’d do Euroseries without a DTM programme,” said Carlin Motorsport boss Trevor Carlin.
