Tobias Brink edges ahead in close second test

Tobias Brink headed the times in a closely-contested second test at the Mantorp Park STCC TCR Scandinavia finale, edging championship rivals Robert Dahlgren and Andreas Bäckman.

Brink’s chart-topping lap of 1:20.048 left him just 0.010 seconds quicker than Dahlgren, and 0.026 clear of Bäckman.

Behind Bäckman, the second Lestrup Racing Team car of Oliver Söderström was fourth, just a tenth off Brink’s benchmark in the sister Brink Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS II.

Local hero Mattias Andersson, who enters the weekend at his home track holding third in the standings with an outside title shot, was fifth.

The session featured a brief interruption after Exion Racing’s Calle Bergman suffered brake issues at the end of the back straight, beaching his Audi in the gravel traps at the Mjölby right-hander. The car, however, was undamaged.

The third and final test before qualifying takes place at 13.30 CEST.
