WRC driver Kevin Abbring to make touring car debut at Spa-Francorchamps
Hyundai Motorsport WRC test driver Kevin Abbring will share a Peugeot 308 Racing Cup with Aurélien Comte. The car will be prepared by DG Sport Compétition, for which the Dutch driver also competes in the Belgian Rally Championship.
Aurélien Comte was a podium finisher last year in TCR Benelux, and he took part in the development of the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup after winning Peugeot’s one-make series with the previous model, the RCZ Racing Cup, in 2014 and 2015.
Abbring had six outings with Hyundai Motorsport in the WRC last year, with a best result of seventh in Spain. The Belgian settled for his national championship this year after trying to secure a drive on the World Rally Championship stage. He became a works Peugeot Sport Belux this year, while remaining committed to Hyundai for the Rally de Montecarlo earlier this year.
Abbring already has experience at Spa-Francorchamps, having competed and won in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux last year at the iconic track.
