Niklas Lilja confirmed to drive the first race in a Honda Civic

Niklas Lilja has confirmed that he is going to drive a Honda Civic TCR, leased from Sportpromotion, in the 2017 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season’s first round at Knutstorp.

“To drive a TCR car is something I have had as goal ever since the category was launched,” said Lilja.

The 32-year-old is so far only confirmed to drive the first race of the season, with an ambition to expand to further races.

”I look forward to the first race. Pending on the result, we will see where we will head after that,” said Lilja.

Lilja has previously worked as chief mechanic in the STCC and made his racing debut in 2011, mainly racing in the Trofeo Abarth, claiming the Swedish title in 2012 and 2013, as well as the European title in 2015.

Lilja is going to race with his own team, LMP Engineering.
