The TCR Germany series has confirmed the entry for its second season will now be 44 cars, with the series getting underway in just under three weeks’ time at the Oschersleben circuit, where the teams are already testing this week.
A total of 19 teams are entered for he series’ sophomore season, with 2016 champion Josh Files recently confirmed as returning to defend his title with Target Competition, which enter seven cars in total, three Hondas and four Audis.
“We have developed the series last year and we have set the right course proven by the great interest from the participants,” said Franz Engstler, the promoter of the series alongside ADAC. “The platform with the ADAC GT Masters and the television broadcasts of SPORT1 provide optimal conditions for the further development of the series.”
The most represented manufacturer is Audi, with 16 of the manufacturer’s RS 3 LMSs entered, despite being the newest TCR car on the market.
Six manufacturers in total are represented in the field, with cars from Honda, Audi, SEAT, Opel, Volkswagen and Kia running in the 44-car field.
Drivers from 13 nationalities will take part in the 2017 series, with 14 drivers from Germany, eight from Switzerland, five from Austria, three from Finland and The Netherlands, two from Denmark and Great Britain, with single entries for drivers from Poland, Sweden, South Africa, Portugal and the USA.
Honda Germany will also be supporting the series, providing the safety car and sponsoring the “Honda Rookie Challenge” for younger drivers.
