Mattias Andersson confirms Honda switch for 2017
Mattias Andersson will be back for his 16th Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season in 2017, confirming a switch to a Honda Civic with some backing from Honda Sweden.
“It is an exciting new project that we start. The goal is obviously a podium finish,” said Andersson.
The 43-year-old has driven for Dacia Dealer Team since 2013 but was out of a drive following the withdrawal of Dacia, as the STCC switched from TTA to TCR regulations.
The set up for 2017 is in cooperation with Honda Sweden and Sportpromotion, a company headed by Greger Peterson that also holds the rights for TCR in Scandinavia.
“Mattias Andersson is one of the most merited names we have in the Swedish racing world. We are really happy to see him drive a Honda,” said Stefan Malmgren, head of Honda Sweden.
