Robert Dahlgren announces shock switch to SEAT
Robert Dahlgren will return for the 2017 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season, despite announcing plans to step down from racing after leaving Volvo last month, with the 37-year-old signing with the SEAT factory team.
Dahlgren has been signed by PWR Racing SEAT Dealer Team to drive one of the team’s four SEAT León TCRs in the 2017 STCC season, marking his departure from the Swedish Volvo marque for the first time since 2004.
”PWR Racing is in my eyes the strongest team in the STCC already now, but together we are going to develop a winning machine that no one can beat,” said Dahlgren.
Dahlgren finished as runner-up in the 2016 STCC drivers’ championship against team-mate Richard Göransson, also taking part in two races in the World Touring Car Championship, picking up points in his last outing in Qatar.
”The main part of my career has circled around Volvo. That I make the change now to SEAT is based in a strong force to win. Mine and the team’s base thoughts are very much aligned and it has felt like the right step to take from our first meeting,” said Dahlgren.
