Josh Files to race in Abu Dhabi TCR Middle East round
Current TCR Germany series champion Josh Files will be back behind the wheel of a Honda at the upcoming round of the TCR Middle East series at Abu Dhabi.
The British driver will be racing a JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic TCR at the race, as he raced during the latter part of the TCR Germany season and most recently at the Guia Race 2.0T in Macau, the TCR International Series finale.
The move marks at least a temporary departure from Target Competition, who ran his programme in TCR Germany and the International Series last season.
The car will be run by the Lap57 team, which will also run a second Civic TCR for UAE driver Mohammed Al Owais, a front-runner in the United Arab Emirates Touring Car Championship.
“I am very happy and excited to have the opportunity to compete in the TCR Middle East Series with team Lap57 in the next round at Yas Marina Circuit,” said Files.
“It’s a new team, new track and new competition for me, yet I bring with me a great deal of confidence as I will be back behind the wheel of a JAS-prepared Honda Civic TCR car once again. As a result, I will be pushing very hard to try to continue my winning ways.”
