Finland included on preliminary 2017 STCC calendar

The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship organisation has released a preliminary calendar for the 2017 season that includes Finland for the first time in the history of the championship, as well as increasing the number of rounds to eight.

”After the season start at Knutstorp we will head to Alastaro. The motive behind selecting a race in Finland is partly a step towards a Scandinavian championship but also from a great interest from Finnish teams to drive in the STCC,” said Jonas Lundin, MD of STCC AB.

The third race of the calendar is not yet named and might not include the main class STCC.

”That race is primarily meant for our support classes, but it could become the eighth STCC race. When we have the details set for it we will return on the subject,” said Lundin.

The season start and end has been changed with Knutstorp, that hosted the season finale this year, instead getting the season opener and Mantorp Park returning as the host of the season finale.
