Target drop Opel for SEAT for the opening rounds of TCR Germany
Target Competition have made a last minute switch from the new Opel Astra TCR to the 2015-spec SEAT León Cup Racer for the first round of the series this weekend in Oschersleben.
The Italian team which won the 2015 TCR International Series with Stefano Comini, will field three cars in the 2016 TCR Germany series, alongside their two-car Astra programme in the International Series with Jordi Oriola and Andrea Belicchi their drivers in the first round in Bahrain.
With the new Opel a little off the pace in Bahrain, Target have announced they’ll run their 2015 cars in the first rounds of the German series for Jürgen Schmarl, Mike Beckhusen and Josh Files in order to allow more development to take place on the Astra.
“For the first events ADAC TCR Germany we will use our 2015 winning cars,” said a team statement. “After the test race in Bahrain, Opel Motorsport and Target Competition decided to withdraw the cars from the grid, use the time for further test days with new parts and to come back soon with very strong performance.”
