Fredrik Larsson leaves STCC for Carrera Cup

2014 STCC runner-up Fredrik Larsson has been confirmed to leave the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship to drive in the support class Carrera Cup Scandinavia this year.

”I was on the podium of the championship both in 2009 and 2010 but I never made it on top. Now I am back to fight for the overall win,” said Larsson.

Larsson drove a BMW for WestCoast Racing last year, finishing third behind Volvo drivers Thed Björk and Fredrik Ekblom.

With WestCoast Racing now running the three-car team with Polestar Cyan Racing, there has been wide speculation on Larsson’s whereabouts prior to this announcement.

Previous rumours pointed him to SEAT team PWR Racing. The question mark regarding the identities of the SEAT drivers remains but with an announcement expected soon as the STCC test days are just around the corner.

The Volvo and Dacia teams will test at Knutstorp tomorrow and on Wednesday while the remaining teams will test at Karlskoga on April 19-20th.

Former STCC champion Johan Kristoffersson has been indicated as a candidate for one of the seats at PWR Racing.
