Halfords back with Team Dynamics for 2016 BTCC

British automotive repair and retail firm Halfords will return to the British Touring Car Championship as co-title sponsor for the defending champions Team Dynamics in 2016. The company will partner Yuasa Batteries as sponsors as the team renames itself Team Halfords Yuasa Racing.

Team Dynamics, which won the drivers’ title last year with Gordon Shedden, and the manufacturers’ title for Honda, will return with three cars for Shedden, Andy Neate and Matt Neal, the latter having won the first two of his three titles with Halfords backing back in 2005 and 2006 with the venerable Integra Type R.

“It’s fantastic to bring the Halfords and Halfords Autocentre brands back into the country’s biggest motorsport championship.,” said Paul Tomlinson of Halfords.

“We’re looking forward to laying down the gauntlet this season and bringing orange and black back to the grid with Team Dynamics, as well as our partner Yuasa Batteries, to defend the driver and manufacturer titles.

Richard Tait-Harris, commercial director of Team Dynamics, added:

“Having worked with Halfords for five years in the past and winning two championships with Matt, we look forward to a long and successful future together. We’re also excited to be continuing our fantastic relationship with Yuasa Batteries and to the challenge of retaining our title as champions of the BTCC this year.”

Team Dynamics will still compete for the manufacturers’ title with support from Honda, with Halfords and Yuasa stepping up as principal sponsors of the team.

The last time the team ran three cars was back in 2006 while Halfords were title sponsor, fielding three cars in the last four meetings for Neal, Shedden and Gareth Howell.
