Tomáš Korený signs for Ravenol San for 2016 ETCC S1600 campaign
Ravenol Team San have signed Czech driver Tomáš Korený for the 2016 European Touring Car Cup season, in a deal which was brokered at the Essen Motorshow.
Korený drove for ETCC regulars Krenek Motorsport in the single-seater FIA CEZ Championship last season, but will now move from the national championship to the low-cost Super 1600 ETCC class this year, driving one of Ravenol Team San’s Ford Fiesta 1.6 16vs.
“I am very happy that we could find a good solution to work together with the Ravenol Motorsport team,” said Korený. “The ETCC means the next step in my carreer as well as a way to race on a European level. I will do my best to show what I can do.”
Korený’s former team principal, Josek Krenek, who will run SEAT Leóns in the new TCN2 class this year, blessed the move.
“During the Essen Motorshow, we received an offer from the German Ravenol San Team for Tomas to compete in the ETCC with a Ford Fiesta, “said Krenek. “The offer was attractive, yet too high for what we could afford, but thanks to the support of our partners Ravenol and the Profesional MotorSport World Expo, we could find a way. Tomas will be the next Czech ETCC driver, next to Petr Fulin.”
