ETH Tuning join ETCC’s Super 1600 class for 2016
ADAC Procar Series (now DTC) squad ETH Tuning will bring its pair of Peugeot 207 Sports to the 2016 FIA European Touring Car Cup, breaking Ford’s strangehold on the category since 2014, when Ravenol Team fielded a Citroën C2 VTS for Erwin Lukas.
The team will run drivers Kevin Hilgenhövel and Andeas Rinke in the six event 2016 ETCC this season. Hilgenhövel was the top classified rookie in the 2015 DTC season, while Andreas Rinke has been a regular race winner in the DTC’s Division 2 category.
The team has existed since the 1970s and runs from a base just 70km from the Nürburgring, which will feature on the ETCC calendar for the first time this year.
“The ETCC is something new for us but we are very experienced and successful in Germany,” said ETH Tuning’s Patick Meyer. “We are very excited about the race at the Nürburgring, of course, because it’s the home race for our team and particular for Andreas Rinke, who lives only 40 kilometres away.”
